A big highlight of my trip to Holland 5 years ago was seeing families with colorfully dressed, well accessorized children engaging in daily activities of living; eating, playing, etc. It was common to witness bicyles designed to carry an entire family–including both parents, toddler, and baby! The Dutch quality of life is well documented. There, children are fully intergrated into life and a deeper enjoyment is realized. It’s a reminder for me now as a single parent, fully responsible for my very young children’s well being. These days, I’m often asked about the origin of my children’s distinctive style–colorful, multiple patterned clothing, often in layers. My little secret stays with me.
